Sequences and Progressions

Types of Angles and Pairs

Acute: 0°–90°. Right: 90°. Obtuse: 90°–180°. Straight: 180°. Reflex: 180°–360°. Complementary angles sum to 90°. Supplementary angles sum to 180°. Adjacent angles share a vertex and side. Linear pair: adjacent angles whose non-common sides form a straight line (sum = 180°). Vertically opposite angles are equal.

Parallel Lines and Transversal

When a transversal crosses two parallel lines: Corresponding angles are equal. Alternate interior angles are equal. Alternate exterior angles are equal. Co-interior (same-side interior) angles are supplementary (sum = 180°). Conversely, if any of these conditions hold, the lines are parallel.

Angle Sum Properties

Triangle angle sum: ∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180°. Exterior angle of a triangle = sum of the two non-adjacent interior angles. Sum of angles at a point = 360°. These properties follow from parallel line theorems and Euclid's postulates.
