2 Marks Practice PYQ-style (not an authenticated past-paper question)
Two points are 8 cm apart. Describe the set of possible centres of circles passing through both points.
Ans: The centres lie on the perpendicular bisector of the 8 cm segment. Every point on that bisector can be the centre of a circle through both endpoints.
3 Marks Practice PYQ-style (not an authenticated past-paper question)
A circle has radius 13 cm. A chord is 5 cm from the centre. Find the chord length.
Ans: The perpendicular from the centre bisects the chord. Half-chord length = √(13²−5²)=√144=12 cm. Therefore the chord is 24 cm long.
3 Marks Practice PYQ-style (not an authenticated past-paper question)
A diameter AB subtends ∠ACB at a point C on the circle. Find ∠ACB and state why.
Ans: ∠ACB=90°. The angle subtended by a diameter at any point on the circle is a right angle.
3 Marks Practice PYQ-style (not an authenticated past-paper question)
In a cyclic quadrilateral, one angle is 116°. Find its opposite angle. Then state the converse condition for a quadrilateral to be cyclic.
Ans: The opposite angle is 180°−116°=64°. Conversely, a quadrilateral is cyclic if a pair of its opposite angles is supplementary.
