2 Marks
How many circles pass through three non-collinear points? What is their common centre called?
Ans: Exactly one circle passes through three non-collinear points. Its centre is called the circumcentre of the triangle formed by the points.

A chord is 14 cm long. What is the length of each part when a perpendicular from the centre meets the chord?
Ans: A perpendicular from the centre to a chord bisects the chord, so each part is 14÷2=7 cm.
3 Marks
In the same circle, two chords subtend central angles of 48° and 48°. What can you conclude about their lengths? State the theorem used.
Ans: The chords are equal in length. In a circle, equal angles at the centre subtend equal chords.

An arc subtends an angle of 38° at a point on the remaining circumference. Find the angle it subtends at the centre.
Ans: The angle at the centre is twice the angle at the circumference: 2×38°=76°.

A quadrilateral ABCD is cyclic and ∠A=73°, ∠B=101°. Find ∠C and ∠D, giving the property used.
Ans: Opposite angles of a cyclic quadrilateral are supplementary. Thus ∠C=180°−73°=107°, and ∠D=180°−101°=79°.
