1 Mark CBSE 2023
What is the degree of the polynomial 5x³ − 4x² + 3x − 2?
Ans: The degree of the polynomial is 3 (highest power of x).
2 Marks CBSE 2022
Find the value of k if x = 2 is a zero of p(x) = x² + kx − 6.
Ans: p(2) = 0: 4 + 2k − 6 = 0 → 2k = 2 → k = 1.
3 Marks CBSE 2021
Factorise: 2x² + x − 6.
Ans: 2x² + x − 6 = 2x² + 4x − 3x − 6 = 2x(x+2) − 3(x+2) = (2x−3)(x+2).
5 Marks CBSE 2020
Using identities, expand (2a−3b+4c)² and (a+b+c)³ when a+b+c=0.
Ans: (2a−3b+4c)² = 4a²+9b²+16c²−12ab−24bc+16ca. If a+b+c=0, then a³+b³+c³=3abc (from identity a³+b³+c³−3abc=(a+b+c)(a²+b²+c²−ab−bc−ca)).
