1 Mark CBSE 2023
Write the equation x = 5 in two-variable form.
Ans: x = 5 can be written as 1·x + 0·y = 5, i.e., x + 0y − 5 = 0.
2 Marks CBSE 2022
If (2, 3) lies on 3x − ky = 3, find k.
Ans: 3(2) − k(3) = 3 → 6 − 3k = 3 → 3k = 3 → k = 1.
5 Marks CBSE 2021
Draw the graph of x + 2y = 6 and find where it cuts the axes. Shade the region bounded by the line and the axes.
Ans: x-intercept: set y=0 → x=6 → (6,0). y-intercept: set x=0 → 2y=6 → y=3 → (0,3). Plot (6,0) and (0,3), draw line. The line cuts x-axis at (6,0) and y-axis at (0,3). The shaded region with the two axes forms a right triangle with legs 6 and 3, area = ½×6×3 = 9 sq units.
